Het organiseren van de Brasov Running Festival, het meest ondersteuning evenement in het World-Athletics calendar, in S-E Europe, weten het nummer van participanten in 2024.

Thus 2,500 amateur runners are expected to register for the 4th edition and more than 25,000 spectators to experience the atmosphere of the festival, along with DJs and established artists.

This year, the fourth edition of the Brasov Running Festival will take place between 21-22 September, in the Coresi neighborhood. In 2024, the competition will host, along with races dedicated to amateurs, children and juniors, two certified races for professional athletes in the world rankings: the TruSylvania International 10K and the European Road Mile. In addition, in partnership with the Romanian Athletics Federation, the National 10K Championship will be held within the competition, with the best athletes from Romania competing.

“The previous edition was another proof that in Brasov we are building a significant event. Par,,,. Dit jaar, we aim to have the event with the largest number of inhabitants of Brasov at the start line, while we also increase the number of runners from Bucharest, Cluj and the rest of the country. Considering the performance offered by elite athletes, unique in this part of Europe, we estimate that more and more people will include this competition in their personal calendar of events”, said Daniel Santa, director of the competition of the Brasov Running Festival.

According to him, 90% of registered amateur and professional runners were Romanian, while almost 10% came from abroad, from countries such as Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Italy, the United States of America, Ukraine, the Netherlands, as well as from Kenya and Uganda.Thus, in 2024, thanks to the intense media coverage in more than 162 countries, the Brasov Running Festival is preparing to host a much larger number of foreign runners, especially Europeans among amateurs and of African origin among professionals.

Vorige editie van de Brasov Running Festival transformed into a favorite international stage for athletes aspiring to outstanding performance, with the women's 10km race becoming one of the fastest in the world, while the men's 10km race proved that this route is among the fastest in the world.

“A few years ago, I couldn't even dream of such a competition in Romania. Elites 10km race is already one that top athletes take into account when planning their competitive calendar, and for Romanian athletes it is an almost unique opportunity to interact and even compete with athletes of such a level. Not to mention the spectators who have the chance to witness the races like few others in the world. In addition to top athletes, we aim to motivate younger generations to gradually integrate running into their lives, and here we make sure to offer prizes, competitions, concerts, positive energy and experiences to match,” added Daniel Santa.

Children, juniors and adult runners benefit from an organised and certified setting, according to the global standards set by World Athletics, with the sporting experience complemented by the festival atmosphere of the competition. Thus, it is estimated that more than 25,000 spectators will watch spectacular races at the foot of Mount Tampa, witness record-setting, historical moments and enjoy the presence of great local artists.

Adidas, technical partner also in 2024

Dit jaar, Brasov Running Festival confirms its partnership with Adidas as technical sponsor of the event. Participants will run in professional athletic jerseys, made entirely of recycled material. Entries are already open for amateur runners in 5K and 10K races, and entries for children's races, divided by age categories, are scheduled to begin in the second half of April. Thus, on the first day of the competition there will be races for juniors and children, covering distances of 800 m, 1,200 m and 3,000 m, while on the second day there are scheduled races with massive participation, with distances of 5 and 10 kilometers, as well as the Romanian National 10K Championship.

Professional (licensed) athletes who wish to participate in elite races (TRUNsylvania International 10K, European Road Mile, BRF 3K juniors or BRF 5K) are asked to submit an application to elite@brasovrun.ro. About Brașov Running Festival

Brasov Running Festival is the most important athletics event on the World Athletics calendar in Southeast Europe. Organized in Brașov since 2021, the competition includes an annual 10 km road race, accredited with the elite World Athletics label, entitled 'TRUNsylvania International 10K'. In addition, the running festival includes a lot of other races for amateurs, children and professionals.

Races take place on a loop route with a length of 3,494 m, using the same finish line, but having variable starting points depending on the length of the distance. In 2023, Brasov Running Festival also hosted for the first time the 'European Road Mile' race, which was attended by more than 20 European athletes from countries such as Turkey, Ireland, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Greece and Bulgaria.
